Fondazione Filiberto e Bianca Menna has started a new serie of art commission with “Spleen”, an art program and production in three appointments.
“Hey there you looking for a brighter season (W)” is the second light installation of the serie. The three strobe lights recite “V V V V” (…- / …- / …- / …-) the coded incipit that began every Radio London broadcast addressed to partisan resistance. Faced to the Gulf of Salerno this message reminds the most important part of Italian history, the LIBERATION from nazi-fascism, and at the same time it communicates to those at sea a message of resistance and welcome. 

Radio London’s encrypted introduction message was borrowed from the first two bars of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The victory symbol that we know as “W” originated from this code.
