"Four days with an electrostatic friend" is a photographic work depicting the course of five differently coloured balloons. Sgambaro reproposes a simple experiment used in primary schools as a metaphor for the precarious situation of a generation. Once the balloon has been inflated, the artist rubs it on his hair creating electrostatics, and then he places it against the ceiling. Thanks to the electrostatic force, the balloon remains stuck to the surface and a photograph is taken day after day, documenting its resistance until it falls. In this simple work the balloon takes the playful and childlike role of the individual in a state of dramatic, precarious suspension.
